No Man’s Sky adds a music creation suite in latest update 2.24

Hello Games has released a new update for No Man’s Sky that adds the ByteBeat device which brings along the ability for players to make their own electronic music from scratch within the game.

Once you’ve aquired the blueprints from the Space Anomaly, you’ll be able to place the devices in your base which then will play a pattern of procedurally generated music, but players can then go in and edit these with full sequencer and synchroniser interfaces to tweak these and modify the instruments, drums and tempos. Players who want to dig in deeper will be able to use an Advanced Waveform AI to fine tune the sounds even more, and several ByteBeat devices can even be linked together and synchronised to create more complex arrangements.

The update also includes a bunch of tweaks and bugfixes – which you can read all about in the full announcement post here. For now, here’s a trailer for the ByteBeat to give you an idea of the sort of things it’s capable of. The update is now live for No Man’s Sky for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
